The 100 is on Canadian Netflix, all three seasons so I watch a number of episodes at at time.

If you ever get to, I would definately reccomend the 100  It actually reminds me a lot of Avatar(my favourite movie)

Yes, it's also a bit scary when you start doing it but it's not that hard, actually, and, as with everything else, you get used to it. Start by opening both cages at the same time and taking a couple of steps back so they have to come out on their own (make sure that all doors are closed and that everybody has been told not to come it until you say it's OK). Most likely, they will either climb to the top of their respective cages or fly to you. If one of them flies to you, scratch its head, praise it and then put it on its own cage outside perch (you do have perches outside their cages, right? - I find them to be VERY useful) - give both of them a treat (a piece of stale bread works great because they hold it in their hands and much on it) and just turn your body sideways and look at them from the corner of your eye. Most likely, Tilly will insist on been on you and that's fine (GCCs feel quite secure while on their human) while Shrek will look from her perch. I would do this until Tilly goes after Shrek at which point I would tell her "Bad Bird!" and put both of them back in their cages. You will find that, as the days go by, you will be able to keep them out longer and longer until, one day, Tilly will just ignore Shrek. It might take months but it will happen.

As to this "100", I don't watch anything that doesn't end. I am too impatient for serials (I am hyperactive) so the only time I watch them is when they have something like an entire season together. I loved Bones but never watched it until it finished and they started it again. I set up my box to record the series and then I watched 3 episodes one after the other every single day - this way I was able to do all 10 seasons in a matter of weeks.

Thankyou, I will definately have to consider trying this, it seems so scary though, not sure if I am ready or not (eex), when they go to eachothers cages back when they were first introduced, they did not think twice to attack.
i dont have perches outside of their cages, but I do have their cage door (which has a perch on it) open wide when they are out of their cages.
I will talk to my family about doing this also, Tilly is not so much as obedient, she dosent stop orpn request, she has a big big mind and when she starts fighting, she goes into a frenzy, like dogs do.
liz wrote:The 100 is not as good as the first season. Honestly for me the idea seems scary :? I think there is too much tension between them still.

Try eating lunch as a flock of 3. Eating together is the best way to socialize. Food is comforting and smooths out a lot of things. Just be the one sitting in the middle of the table.

Thankyou Liz, I really do want to get them ok with eachother, but not sure if am ready, im terrified of what could happen.

I guess I can always change the name of this one to 'the random talk' or 'My rambles' and make another Tilly and Shrek thread.

Chantilly, as far as the information that Pajarita shared with you about helping to get Tilly and Shrek to get along better outside of their cages, you do not have to wait for either of them to actually begin an attack, watch for the body language that indicates either defensiveness or aggression and start the " Bad Bird" statement at that time and then return them to their cages if the defensive/ aggressive behavior persists. It might take a little longer for Tilly to make the mental connections for it to work, but it is safer for both the birds and yourself to act before the aggression becomes an attack. Think about it and hopefully this will be useful for you.

Myrtle is jelous of any time I spend with Rambo. I have tried to teach her to share but she still gets mad at me and knocks him off the top of his cage. I have separated a ball of green feathers a few times. I can't tell where one ends and the other begins so I just grab the ball from both sides and hope I get two different bird.
Rambo is like "can't we all just get along". No one gets hurt but the ball of green really upsets me.

These two love each other in their own ways but Myrtle has not learned to share. They are friends when I am not home.

Yes, indeed, watching their body language and stopping the actual aggression before it happens as Wolf recommended is actuall the IDEAL thing to do! But, personally, I don't like to use the same phrase for an actual action that already took place that I do for a warning. To me, "Bad Bird" is for during or after the fact and the "I'm watching you!" or "Be nice!" is for before. I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to using perfectly appropriate (cognitive) language with my animals... I am forever nagging my husband about this because he has the habit of telling a misbehaving dog: "Be a good boy!" and I always tell him he is just confusing them because "good boy' should ONLY be used when the dog was a good boy and not as warning or scolding for bad behavior.

I understand how Pajarita is about the words and phrases she uses, but I only used it to reference what she was saying with what I was saying more or less to maintain the context of it.

I do it exactly the same way as wolf. It has always worked well for me. If I say to Gaugan, "are you my good bird", and she responds with a sweet sound or a beak movement than I know she is in the right mood, and will actually try to please. If she turns in a circle, or just eye pins, then i know she is on the grouchy side and I am very alert to head off agression at Sunny. If she continues with grouchy feather movements, than back to her cage untill she cools off. She needs roughly 10 minutes time outs. I ask "are you going to be my good bird" and if she responds indicating she will, then out she comes and usually she is in a very good mood for a long time after that. Sunny is very good natured so in my case it is only Gaugan I am watching right now.
