Hello I'm new Here and I just thought I would post a PiC of me and pauline .. She is my sweetie. My dad caught her as he put his hand up and she landed on his hand one day. My dad has since passed away 13 years ago now and Pauline is still with me . she has been with us about 19 years now. :amazon:

Very nice bird. I went looking and I think that she is a Lilac crowned Amazon as the Red Browed Amazon has a black beak. Here is a link with photos of the Lilac Crowned Amazon, there is a button under the picture to go the photo gallery for more pics of this bird.

If you're thinking of the Red-lored Amazon (Amazona autumnalis), it indeed has a black lower beak - but that's not the species Pauline is referred to as. The Red-crowned Amazon (Amazona viridigenalis) does look a lot like the Lilac-crowned (Amazona finschi) so I get why they might get mixed up, but the Lilac-crown has got a lot more.. Lilac.. on its head. Haha. :lol:

Thanks for your input and it appears that it is as the OP suggested, who would have thought to look up the Green cheeked Amazon while discussing a Red Crowned Amazon, I must admit that I did not think to look there. My mistake and I really appreciate that you caught my error and came through with the right information.

By the way, haven't heard from you in quite a while, how are all of you?
