Mango the Lovebird

Postby ParrotsForLife » Fri Mar 11, 2016 10:50 am

This is Rio my lovebird that I rehomed only now he seems to be a Plum headed parakeet lol.
Mango mimicked his call from Tiko, Tiko used to do it very loud every time you walked by her cage and it would go through your ear.Parrots must have great hearing because my Uncle lives next door and he has a African grey named Bruno and he learned a lot of words and sounds from Tiko and Tiko learned from him too.

Oh what a little sweetie!!! I always find it very funny and wonderful when birds imitate the sounds of a different species of bird. Looks so happy and poofy too! I don't know enough about birds to determine weather they "understand" the vocalizations of other species like that, but perhaps they do up to an extent?

Parrots DO have incredible hearing! In our older apartment, a neighbour owned a cat and Simo learned to "MEOW!" even though the soundproofing was really top notch. He heard it anyway, the little bugger. Little sweetheart! Thank you for sharing! :greycockatiel:
