Our Healthy Day

Postby ParrotsForLife » Sat Mar 19, 2016 6:23 pm

Today we went Parrot-Food shopping and I got as usual Lentils and instead of getting the Broccoli grassy stuff I got a different one that has purple stuff in it too and I also got Mango some fruit, Apple and Strawberries and I got a new Spray bottle and used it on them when I got home, Loki loved it, it has a great mist and Tiko liked it too and she usually hates being misted. We are gonna go toy shopping soon once my mam gets paid and gets petrol.

That is a beautiful display of food for you bird. I think they eat the beautiful displayed food better. I don't mix the Amazon food so they can identify the piece they want to pick up. It is also easier to see what they like and don't like. I have not tried sprouted beans but I do cut their food in the size that is easy for them to pick up such as a one inch piece of carrot, celery, apple and orange. The orange is Rambo's first choice and ten the apple. He eats the carrot and celery last. I give them a tablespoon each of the softened grain and that is what Myrtle goes for first and then her fruits.

Mine eat it all, the Cockatiels of course would prefer to eat seed so I don't put that in until later.

Parrots for Life, I dont know if you are into making toys for your parrots but, if you are, I can send you the link to a great group on facebook that makes toys for their parrots and also to send to rescues. I make almost all my own parrot toys to save money and to tailor make what they like the best, so just let me know if it is something you are interested in at all.

I was at Lowe's hard ware yesterday and at checkout found safe untreated wood shims. They will not quit until they have a pile of tooth picks.

My Pos are really big chewers and i have to make lots of pine chewable toys or they end up wanting to chew the furniture and picture frames. I have so many wood shavings from there chewing, it woud be good to find a use for them..
