Scarlet macaw petition

Postby Pajarita » Tue Apr 19, 2016 9:47 am

I beg to consider signing this petition. PIJAC will, of course, fight it tooth and nail saying that, if this goes into effect, people would not be able to move their birds from one state to another, etc. etc. but it's not true, if the bird is captive-bred, you have no problem. What we need to take into consideration is that, although wild-caught birds are illegal in USA, there is still poached bird trade coming in from Central America via Mexico so signing this petition will ensure that there is more than just one single control at the border. Authorities can miss one control but if you have several in place, the chances of wild birds ending up as breeders will be greatly reduced.

I am Canadian or I would sign that petition. The plundering of wild parrots needs to stop.
