Sheesh, poor thing... Can you imagine how terribly traumatizing it must have been for the poor bird?! I tell you, I am more and more convinced that people should need a license to keep a parrot.

While the man probably did not actually mean the thing that he was yelling at the parrot, it is always hard to tell when someone has been drinking. Yelling at the bird is only going to start the bird yelling back at him and reinforce the behavior that the bird was doing in the first place, but perhaps the man just wanted the bird to yell at him. Regardless of what might have been happening, I don't feel that one should be that drunk while being responsible for another person feathered or not.

Birds are beings in their own right. I wonder who started the argument. I know mine can easily start an argument. I also know that I cannot win.

Yes, granted that the bird would not understand the actual words but they do understand tones of voice VERY well because, whenever my husband and I argue (and neither of us yells or screams, mind you!), they all get very upset and show it by vocalizing in a special way (especially Sophie CAG -which came from home where the husband was abusive- and Mami YCA which screams at us in an old lady's voice  )
