Kilaya fools crow.

Postby Erithacus » Fri May 06, 2016 7:59 pm

Yesterday, as I stepped out of house, a crow flew pass us over head. On seeing the crow, Kilaya said, crow argh argh argh (mimicking the call of a crow). To my very surprise, the crow returned the call. The crow then made a u turn back and perched nearby on the powerline above us and called out a few times. He must be wondering who called him as there was no crow nearby at that time.

That is special.
I have often told of my Sweetie Cockatiel learning to speak Cardinal from a male Cardinal when her mate flew away. The Cardinal would sit on the rail of the deck and keep her company every day.

Kilaya is braver than my previous grey, Cocoa. She is not afraid of the crows and the crows usually ignore her when she was flying at the field.

She should be fairly safe from the crows, when out flying, as long as there are only one or two as crows rarely attack another bird until there are at least three or more of them. They will usually call for re=enforcements before making an attack, although there have been exceptions to this. Crows also seem to prefer an aerial type of attack, forcing the victim to the ground and then mobbing their victim. At least that is what I have observed when they attack such birds as hawks and owls.
