Breeding macaws in 1200-1400 AD

Postby Pajarita » Sun May 08, 2016 11:48 am

Wow! I was floored by this! I mean, I knew that people have kept parrots for thousands of years (Pliny the Elder documents it back in 23 AD and we have numerous historical data on it - even Columbus brought back a pair of Cuban Amazons to Queen Isabel) but I thought they were all wild-caught so I was extremely surprised to find out that the Paquime people were actually breeding scarlet macaws and in the middle of the desert! Did any of you know about this?
