Play date with my rehomies

Postby Bird woman » Tue Jul 05, 2016 12:35 am

Today 2 of my rehomed umbrellas came for a play date with the kids. What a very special time we had. A early afternoon brunch turned into 7 hours of cuddling skipping, dancing , eating and playing outside and more cuddling. :flapping: :corella: :budgie2: :swaying: miko and dolly fell in love several months ago when I took her over there house , I let her stay. I never had miko at my house, I had him taken right away to my friends as I had a sick parrot at home. Dolly remembers :flapping: everything here and miko was just as happy . Dolly jumped into my arms and her mate miko followed although he had never met me before. We all loved on each other then played and OMG the day couldn't of been better. My friend was absolutely shocked , the way miko was acting with me just like he's always been here and I'm his human.well I guess I'm going to be the babysitter now because he's really big on hunting and hasn't been for a few years because his wife is afraid of miko. These birds never never forget . And there is no better feeling in this world to know that you impacted there lives in a way they will never forget and neither will I .( I cryed when they went home ) always love my birds forever. That is so amazing and sweet, I dont think they will ever forget anything or anyone who was a part of there lives. So you are caring for Miko now?

Thankyou BW for sharing :D

No miko and dolly went home but they will come back and play again soon. Even us adults had a good time especially me as I received most of the birds attention . :P when I rehome a bird it is with the understanding that they have to come back to me if something ever happens and they no longer can care for them . My birds are never sold ! This is part of the networking I do with a group of friends that know one of us will always step in and care for each others birds if the need arises. Situations change unexpectedly. We try to get the birds back together often , but not at least for a few months so they have time to bond with there new human. As I said I hadn't met miko because I sent him straight to my friends house when my husband picked him up as I had a very sick little girl to care for. Dolly was here and my husband or I always had her with us because the other birds were not dealing with her well. She got to go to mikos house to visit and the too immediately fell in love and you couldn't separate them. Dolly's situation before I got her was one of being exhiled to a back room for years so she was terribly attention starved . I couldn't deny her the other birds love because of my own selfishness . So I sucked it up cried and went home packed her bags and let her move in with her boyfriend. She has been there about 4 or 5 months now , plenty of time to settle in. So it was time for a play date and you know the rest. B.W.

Although my Lady has fallen for Mimi, our Amazon, she has very little to do with any of the other birds and absolutely hates the small birds.. I have constantly been in hot water over the parrotlets Keeta and Rajah and the two budgies, Harley and Marley. The budgies were intended for another family but that didn't work out so I took them in.

Sounds like everybody/birdy had a WONDERFUL visit - and, yes, you are right, they never forget but I have found that, if they think that their current home is better than the one they had before, even though they do remember their previous owners, they don't really want to go back with them.

And, Wolf, welcome to the club of the 'not so happy with all the birds spouse'! I am the president and you can be the VP  I got into hot water this weekend because of a new little one that came in -will tell you all about it on its own thread.

Dolly the one I let stay with miko would of stayed and miko meeting him for the first time ever would have gladly stayed too and put up a pretty impressive fight not to leave . I had to be the one to put them in there travel cages. But I know they love there new people and not so new to miko as he's been there several years . These friends do an excellent job with the birds and are Always up to learning more. I spoil birds rotten , and glot a little over my rehomed birds not forgetting me. That makes me feel so good ,but birds are like children if you have something they thinks better they want it. BW
