My birds not only make me happy, they make me forget bad moods and crack me up every single day and, as we all know, there is nothing that makes you feel better than a good laugh. Mami YFA loves to sing and does it every single morning. Problem is, she can't carry a tune if her life depended on it and ends up singing the same three or four notes in her TRA LA LA over and over regardless of what song or singer is on. This morning, I put on an Aretha Franklin LP and I guess that she must have inspired Mami because she tried to reach a higher note on the last LA LAs as I was going up the stairs and she made me laugh so hard, I had to actually sit down on the top step! I love that bird!

Love it. I once knew an Amazon who sang "I left My Heart in Avalon" ( a hit from the 50s, I think... who knows how old that bird was/is?), but, yes, horrifically off-key and seemed to me to sound like a scratched record...
I LEFT MY
I
I LEFT MY HEART IN
I LEFT
I LEFT
I LEFT MY HEASFT IN AVALONNNN!
(REPEAT X 10)

Meanwhile, Poetry Hour...

ODE TO GREEN CHILES!

O dear green chiles, my saviours so true -
I have no control 'o'er the R-bird 'cept you -
His love for you is much more than for me -
You lure him back into his cage - BITE-FREE!
Your succulent fire-seeded magical heat!
Enchants him! Rickeybird's in the cage. Sweet!

My ol' man says he writes poems, too... and here's one.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Full of chile poo
Bird, that is you.
