Charlie

Postby ParrotsForLife » Sun Nov 20, 2016 4:57 pm

Charlie is a 6 year old African grey at the pet store he has been there a few weeks after his owner left him there because she was always working and didn't want him anymore after 6 years :( after all his time at the pet store he never let anyone touch him but he let my mam touch him and she gave him kisses and the man told us a bit about him he sure is a cutie and we might be taking him home.My mam was also crying when she was giving Coco scratches (Tiko's boyfriend) It is upsetting looking at other greys.

I don't know if you have seen previous threads I don't know how long you have been on this forum but my Mam was always planning on getting another baby African grey because she knows more about them now and thinks she can handle two of course ill help too but we saw Charlie abandoned by his owner and he's 6 years old so we should give him a forever home instead of getting a baby.Right now with Tiko we just have to hope somebody sees her and spread the word as far as possible.

Also we had Tiko 8 years all her life so when I was younger I knew nothing about Parrots and only start learning when I got my very own parrot (a budgie) So if my mam never got Tiko I wouldn't have parrots now.

Much better to rescue , to your mam. Hope Charlie is very healthy. Don't forget to quarantine and vet check before introducing into flock. Very important. BW

The rest of the flock are upstairs so he wouldn't be near them, I know you have to Quarantine new birds but I've never went to a vet with new birds. The Avian Vet is far far away, My birds have only been to regular vets and they wouldn't be able to do everything that a Avian vet can.

I wish more people would get the rehomes instead of getting babies. Buying a baby only adds to the problem of homeless birds. If we stop buying from breeders they will stop breeding and make it more possible for the older birds to be adopted.

I think even with African greys its best to get an adult so you already know how they will behave
