In my first post I did talk about the blood work result. These things I'm posting have happened already as I got her on June 11th. I waited to hear from the vet before announcing I had her, wanting to make sure she was healthy and all first.

Wait so how did the bird live cageless in the previous home but not flighted? That kinda doesn't make sense cause not only it can't get around but also if it ends up on the floor, can't get up to whatever stand it lives on.

I finally go through reading day 3/4. Congratulations no the really quick progress. It just sounds like she's a really sweet bird.

Sorry, completely missed that bit. I'm happy everything worked out though.

Glad to hear things are going so well with Pixie. She sounds like a little sweetheart!

Considering you waited quite a while for a female Red-Bellied, it must be nice that things are going quite smoothly with her.

As I said, the vet only trimmed down one feather on one side (it was somewhat in the middle) and two on the other. She might have had more lift with that but she is still quite capable of flying up with the evening-it-out-trim and the feathers really aren't trimmed that short. In her old home there was also stuff around the room which. I believe for, allowed them to get off the ground.

Some birds are strong flyers even with no flights - I used to have Piper clipped and it wouldn't stop him from flying, it just slowed him down a bit.

Yeah it is quite the relief. Now I have to see how she'll handle being with the others.

I also have to tell the breeder in Guelph I found a female. I would have loved one of her babies, but the fact that it was "Stewie" that came up...I couldn't pass that. Oh and did you know, her entire clutch of brown heads are males? That means 3 male RB and 4 males Brownheads...wonder if there will ever be a female baby something ;) (joking of course, I know there is bound to be one at one point, but when is another story)

Yeah but a clipped Poi is basically something just short of a rock. :?

I do believe it depends on the clip.
Take Pixel - her feathers were clipped but they weren't clipped down to the cover feathers, quite the contrary. I don't quite understand what that clip was meant to do, nor do I understand why on one side there was one grown feather in the middle and two on the other (and they were more towards the edge). I don't think that would have provided even-out flight either.

She's able to gracefully land and she's able to go up. Hopefully she'll molt some old feathers out sooner rather than later (and she does look like she's molting or should soon) and then she'll have her flights in.

Pippin can fly like a demon clipped. He must just be an extremely strong flier especially with all of his flights clipped. I can't imagine what he'll be like when they finally grow back in. He'll be like a little Blue Angel bird!
