Cape the Cape is home!

Postby thejoie » Thu Jul 01, 2010 6:49 pm

I am in LOVE!!
My boyfriend and I drove the 3 hours to the breeder's house. She brought us in and brought Capri down. Capri immediately did a few laps around us! Her flight is wonderful!! We did all the paperwork things and then Capri went into the carrier. She was very comfortable in there. The whole ride home she was chattering, eating, and napping near the front of the carrier by us. She didn't seem afraid.

We brought her home and she did one lap around the kitchen and flew down to me. She sat and cuddled for about an hour.

I took her to her cage and she was ALL OVER IT!! Exploring every nook and toy. I'm so glad she has such a big cage! She loves it!!

She is fearless, she's a cuddler. She's sweet. She's smart!! I seriously feel so happy with my decision to bring her home now. She is perfect.

Exactly how old? Looks so much like Truman except that I think he has a bit more red/orange in his cheeks. BTW how much does she weigh? Anyway, congratulations are in order. Capes are the best.

Natacha, why do you want female cape specifically?

I know a few people who have males and a few who have females. The females seem to have a sweeter disposition, specially when hormones kick in. Quite frankly, seeing how I do have a number of male Pois, I wouldn't mind have another sweet female; just looking at my own flock, Shade and Pixel (so far anyways) are much gentler than any of the others at any given time.

Congrats!!! She's absolutely beautiful. Capes seem to always have this excited/happy look to them.

Glad to hear she's settling in so well. Can't wait to see more pictures (and videos?) and to hear all about your updates!

She hatched March 31st so she is almost exactly 3 months old. She weigh 320 grams. She's still getting weaning pellets soaked in water. I believe in abundance weaning so as long as she wants them she's going to get some warm mushy pellets fed by hand! She ate a few this morning so I'm pretty happy! The breeder said she'll probably gain a little more weight till she starts refusing the pellets. How big is Truman? Males tend to be bigger, I saw the breeders pet male and he was huuuge!

I wanted a female too for the same reasons Natacha! I've just heard that at maturity females tend to remain sweeter. And I love that females keep their orange coloration! It's beautiful!!

Truman hatched March 2 but I didn't get him till June 22. His highest weight is around 315g. You know what I think it is? I got a Fuscicollis and you got a Suahilicus. Truman definitely has more red in his neck but then again Suahilicus tend to be bigger.
