Did you say your pair is around 1 year old? Seems a bit strange for them having chicks already unless someone lied about their age? :?

They are closer to 2 years old. I got them at just over 18 months old. They were sexed on the 14/03/2009 and according to the breeder they were around 6 months old.

Man if they were 1 year old it would have been a breeze to tame them. Mind you, you can handle them without a problem now . . . well not at the moment. I think anyone getting near the chicks is in danger! :violin:

I finally did a very quick video. Its pretty short so don't expect too much but it gives you an idea of their size as specially when you consider Green Cheeks are one of the smaller Conures.

Cheers

It's amazing how the chick makes the green cheek parakeet look so huge! Luckily I know how small green cheeks are so those chicks must be tiny! Makes me wonder how the parents can aim the food from their relatively huge beak into that tiny one!

I've wonder that myself. I also have no idea how they manage feeding at night time. I have the blind open which lets in light from the street along with a night light, but the nest box only has a little hole, so not much light is going to get in. Well their crops have food in them, so it must be coming from somewhere hey??

I can't video her when she is feeding them because she stops as soon as we look in and gives me this Evil Possessed look! Its freaky.

Mandy, their instincts are just amazing. I have no idea how she knows what to do. Even things like her having a bath just before the eggs hatch. She leaves most of the moisture on and then goes into the nest box. This increases the humidity and also helps soften the egg shells.

Thanks tacotaco, Glad you enjoyed it, Will try to do better with the video next time . . our life revolves around them now :D

Are you sure they are finished? LOL! They look soooo vulnerable, I think they'd scare me to death! Looking forward to hearing about them growing up!

Its worth noting in this video, she is still sitting on two eggs and an additional two babies are underneath her. If you look carefully, you can just see one under her wing near the baby that's visible.
