Thanks Mandy :)

I was expecting this little guy to hatch out tomorrow but he came a day early :) What's amazing is the size difference again. Have a look at the newly hatched baby on the bottom and compare the wing size with the older ones.

Well only one more egg to go!

  I can't believe how fast they grow! But they are adorable!

My son has seen her feed them but I hadn't. When he explained what happens I didn't believe him. Today I saw her feed one and man is it freaky!!!! The babies whole head was in her beak. I think if she sneezed she would have taken his whole head off . . neck and all.

For her next clutch I will have a Night Vision camera installed in the nest box.

But a green cheek parakeet beak is so tiny as it is! The head must be sooo small to be able to fit in that beak entirely!

A quick update for today.

Egg number 5 is due to hatch tomorrow sometime and considering Trinity had a really big bath I have a feel it will hatch in the morning . . possibly after midnight.

In any case here is a video I shot today. Babies are a little bigger again.

Cheers
Paul

How do you get everyone out to clean the nest box? Or does it get full of poop and stuff?

Thanks Guys,

The nest box stayed incredibly clean all the way until the first egg hatched. Up until then when they both were out of the nest box I occasionally refreshed the Nesting Material. So only the one change in 3 weeks and no smells at all. Remember no poops in the box.

Now that the little ones have arrived we are just beginning to get smells in the box. Logically this is due to the Babies doing their business in the box. Most breeders don't change the material until all the babies are removed. Our plan is to change the material once a week, so tomorrow will be the first change. Its also worth noting the nesting material we us is pasteurized and formulated for them, so it does get expensive.

Now on to the more important news . . Baby 5 Hatched this morning :hatched: Haven't seen the little fella but there is an empty egg shell in the box :D
