Sprite is an absolutely wonderful bird. I know we're probably still in the "honeymoon" phase but I'm amazed at how friendly he is. Loves being held and petted, steps up on command even from inside his cage now, flies to me from across the room to hang out on my shoulder. Just the complete opposite of every other budgie I've ever been around. I posted a while ago about how if I got another bird I'd feel kind of bad getting one from a breeder or store rather than a rescue or rehome, but wow, there really is nothing like a hand-fed baby.

One question - Sprite is a very chatty bird, naturally, and in addition to the standard budgie whistle/chirp call he sometimes does this angry-sounding little screech repeatedly, especially when he's flying (either in his cage or outside). What does this mean? Is he upset about something or is it just a different type of call? He also does kind of a staccato little chirping noise when I go to pick him up and I'm not sure what that means either - he doesn't bite or fly away or anything when I pick him up, so maybe it's just excitement/affection? Thoughts, other budgie owners?
