He's started to dance and bop around up and down when I come in the room now, and he was SO happy when I came home from work today
As far as training goes, he's a quick study on the target training. I've been able to move on now to challenging him, putting the tip of the chopstick in places where he needs to think a bit more about how to get there. He's really cute when he's thinking, his head darts around as he figures out different routes. Sometimes they don't really make sense (ie. completely circumnavigating his cage instead of moving five inches left and reaching out a bit) but he gets there every time!
We had a little bit of a mishap already though, it was my mistake, and I feel almost embarrassed to report...but here goes. We were doing some target training with the door open and my hand in the cage, and he discovered that he could swing out the door. He climbed up and onto the top of the cage, looking all pleased with himself, I tried to re-direct him back down, he wouldn't listen, and I reached out to try to direct him with my hand, he freaked out, and fluttered to the floor!! Ack. I was able to scoop him up gently, he was NOT impressed and made sure I knew by squawking, but I got him safely back in the cage. We'll do some more target training with the door shut and work on hand taming before I try that again!!
