It isn't easy to wait I can tell you that much. But I'm waiting in the best interest of Lucy and Jessie. I cannot do a proper quarantine until we close the trailer and I will not risk them getting sick. I stated from day one when I expressed interest in Kylie that I wouldn't be bringing her home until October so I could properly quarantine and she was more than happy to keep Kylie until that time.
Having said that though ... the girl I'm adopting Kylie from is a very responsible parrot owner and is more than willing to have blood work and disease testing done before we bring Kylie home. She works at a vet office and can get the tests done at a reduced price - she will pass the savings on to me. Then I think a simple checkup at our vets office with copies of the test results will suffice.
If all the tests and blood work come back clean and our vet gives her a thumbs up, I may reduce the quarantine period ... but still plan on quarantining for at least 3 - 4 weeks.
