My Visit with Kylie!

Postby lzver » Sun Aug 15, 2010 1:32 pm

Yesterday afternoon, Cory was kind enough to let me come over and spend a few hours with Kylie. I'm trying not to take it too fast with her and force her to do anything. I didn't try any step-ups at yesterday, but she let me give her head scratches 3 times yesterday and we practiced waving hi all afternoon. All in all it was a great visit and I can't wait to bring her home in October! I will visit several more times before I bring her home. I feel very fortunate to have found Cory and Kylie because I couldn't ask for a better situation for an adoption. Anyways, here are just a few of the pictures I took yesterday.

You must be so excited! I don't know how you are going to wait till October! I could never wait that long! I have no patience.

She's very cute :)

Did Pancho vocalize a lot while you were there?

When wasn't pancho vocalizing ;)

I felt so sorry for Pancho. Cory had just gotten home from work and he desperately needed the time to fly off some pent up energy.

It isn't easy to wait I can tell you that much. But I'm waiting in the best interest of Lucy and Jessie. I cannot do a proper quarantine until we close the trailer and I will not risk them getting sick. I stated from day one when I expressed interest in Kylie that I wouldn't be bringing her home until October so I could properly quarantine and she was more than happy to keep Kylie until that time.

Having said that though ... the girl I'm adopting Kylie from is a very responsible parrot owner and is more than willing to have blood work and disease testing done before we bring Kylie home. She works at a vet office and can get the tests done at a reduced price - she will pass the savings on to me. Then I think a simple checkup at our vets office with copies of the test results will suffice.

If all the tests and blood work come back clean and our vet gives her a thumbs up, I may reduce the quarantine period ... but still plan on quarantining for at least 3 - 4 weeks.

She is gorgeous isn't she :D She's such a pretty dainty little girl. She's actually 2-years old. The girl I'm adopting her from has had her since she was 4 months old.
