Does it really take 4 weeks to regrow a feather?
I only noticed yesterday Kika had his new wingfeather. I wonder how long its going to take to grow the rest in.

Yeah I know. Drops like a brick when he 'steps' off his perch. The scrapes on the cere are a common thing here when Kika has decided to 'go flying' again. He tries every couple of days so I am pretty confident he will learn how to fly real soon.

I was afraid the new feathers would break off once they would start to grow in. The old feathers surely couldnt protect them well enough. But on the oposite wing this same feathers is just growing in and is still partially in the sheath. You can see the sheath is beneath the cuttingline and the tip of the feather thats already out is jutting out ast the line. So the part that needs protection is still covered. I hope the rest will start to grow in soon so this little feather wont be so lonely.
