I need help with my breeder B&G/GW macaw pair

Postby justinbranner » Thu Dec 23, 2010 6:05 pm

Hi,
I recently bough a pair of breeder macaws, the female is Blue and gold and the male is Green Wing. they are healthy and beautiful. I gave them a big nest box that I built and in about a month I saw them maiting. I saw them mait at least 2 or 3 times and she laid 4 eggs every other day. I was very exited and happy. They get fresh fruits and vegitables every morning and zupreem breeder blend pellets. After 28 days I checked the box and all 4 eggs were there. On that same evening I checked the box again and there was another egg in there. So now thee are 5 eggs in the box. The first egg was laid on November 24th, 2010.
I dont know if this is normal. I thought they lay only 2 to 4 eggs. She set tight all this time in the nest box. My email: zadoyan2010@gmail.com
Thank you.

I`m not sure how long it takes for a macaw egg to fertilize, but perhaps the eggs were infertile?
