learning to fly!

Now that I have been able to create a controlled environment for flight, our flock is slowly learning how to fly. Odin is making great strides in landing on a perch, instead of crashing into things. Baby has come right into flight very gracefully and already has begun flying to her tree from her cage. Peanut on the other hand, unfortunately I will have to wait til next summer to allow him to be fully flighted. I just don't trust him. Living with my in-laws, he has already tried to attack my MIL. Not a good sign... not sure what he's trying to say either. LOL. But with the flock in a new room towards the back of the house( without a huge window to fly into) we are looking to the sky..

They do look beautifull. I love Odin, I never saw a bronze wing before but he is stunning. How big is he? Would it be difficult for you to keep him next to Baby or Peanut for a picture?

i might be able to get him next to Baby, they can tolerate each other for a few moments, then she gets antsy and chases Odin away. a quick photo might be all i get!

I never see photos with the pois and pionus in the same photo. Do you keep them separate or is just coincidence they don't come up in the same photos? Do you find that flight is making them get along better or abuse flight to go and bother other birds?

My red belly is definitely abusing her privileges, she has already joined my senegal on his tree twice this week through flight. He definitely enjoys her company--they try to feed eachother. And when he's had enough, he will let her know and chase her away. She had him cornered on the tippie top of his boing this morning and he snapped at her to back off, so she flew away. Problem solved. She's never chasing him in a mean way, always just coming on too strong, wanting to preen. He just can't stand her for that long

My pionus on the other hand avoids those two at all cost--usually they only are together momentarily if one accidentally flies onto the others cage or tree. Typically we are in the room with them when they are out so we can protect him, he's still pretty young and only protects his stuff from other humans, not the birds yet.

Typically they will all mind their own business unless something spooks them off their spot, or sheer curiosity gets to them. Usually only in my red belly
