A Close Call

Postby Titanius » Tue Aug 31, 2010 3:51 pm

I'm still panting from the chase. But my younger tiel ,Diamond, has begun popping her flight feathers and she'd been flying around a little bit to my delight. My cousins and I were sitting in the living room and she had a random flying fit. She flew all the way from the kitchen through its doorway into the living room and out the door someone had left open. And down the street. My heart fell.. How could I be so careless in not reminding people to keep the door closed. I jumped a fence and did the best track sprinting I could to keep up. She flew 3 houses down and into the neighbor's high shrubbery and then got spooked by some common robins and glided down onto a fence panting. I quickly grabbed her up as gingerly as possible. All I can say is phew. Never trust your bird to not fly away even if it's unintentional. An open door is an open door. Yet another horror story that could have been worse had she been fully flighted or it been a little more windy.

O my god, thats so scary to hear! Im glad she is ok.
I think youre lucky she is not used to flying and that its still new to her.

Big huggs to you and Diamond. I'm sure it was as scary to her as to you!

Gotta remember to check that all the doors are securely latched before they get 'out time'.
