Floating on air...

Postby jayebird » Thu Sep 16, 2010 10:29 pm

I had to share this :>

Last night our little Mango fell asleep...
on his back...
in my hand.

We were having his nightly before-bed cuddle and he was out like a light. Feetsies curled up in fists close to his body not clutching anything, head resting on my thumb...he yawned twice (so bloody adorable) and then totally dozed off to some gentle petting and stayed asleep once I stopped. I must have stayed posed frozen on the couch for at least 30 minutes before I brought myself to put him to bed in his cage. I was stiff from holding an awkward position for so long but it was totally worth it.

It's easy to feel loved by a dog or even a cat, but when a bird trusts you this much it's totally different. I know that he's not domestic, he's just a (partially) tamed wild animal and in reality he should be terrified of a huge monkey predator like me......but I feel so trusted and happy that I must sound a little silly :P

My sennie has come to sleep on my shoulder before, you would be surprised how uncomfortable sittning in the same position is... even if it is comfortable to start with...

And yes, it is a nice feeling to know your feathered friend trusts you :)

So cute!

I love it when my birds sleep on my shoulder but to have them fall asleep on their backs in my hand would be an awesome feeling!

Not at all silly. I have experienced that love and trust and identify with your feelings. Such simple bliss.

You hit the nail on the head! This is why I love birds so much and you don't sound one bit silly to me  I will post a video of our baby GCC and show you what I do to her! Every thing from a touching under her wing through to Massaging her feet! She really loves it.

Great post and thanks for sharing
