A week ago, we'd begun to hear things that sounded like words coming from the kitchen. Ernie, our Congo African Grey, started his interest in human speech. Cool, huh?
So that same week, Drew came home and we were watching Nip Tuck on the couch. We both started watching it from season 1, and man it's pretty entertaining. When Drew gets home, we let all the birds out pretty much.... the ringneck goes onto the severes cage to play with her toys, while she goes onto Drew to get scratches and pretend she's a baby. The cockatiel and sun conure play together on their rope-perch connected cage-tops and the Ernie goes onto the large play tree in the living room.
The African Grey's are an interesting species of parrot.... they learn from modeling extremely fast. Ernie see's the Severe macaw getting pets and kisses on the couch, so out of no where... Ernie fly's/glides over to the couch. Luckily, by then, I'd been aware of his sudden flights to us and just extended my arm for him to land on. He's pretty good by now, so he lands...and what's the next thing he says?
It was crystal clear "Smart bird!" ... *click click click* .... and proceeds to put his head down for some scratches and pets. Hahaha
Smart bird indeed.
