If you find her a well-qualified, happy forever home then that leaves room for another bird to be fostered and helped to find a forever home, and so on...
At least that is what I told myself when hubby let me foster the cherry-heads. I do it through a rescue which helps though (they provide cage, food if needed, support, vet care, processing of potential adopters etc.)
Of course I am struggling greatly with my fosters and foresee needing to find a better qualified foster mom for them, but that's a whole other topic...

Oh I completely agree with you, ptuga. Fostering is wonderful!!! I just...I'm not "foster" material. I get too emotionally attached. The only reason I took Jovie in was that I was very afraid she would end up in a poor home due to her disability and the cheap listing price her owner was asking for her. My instincts were right in the respect that 1. her cage was not suitable AT ALL and 2. the toweling she went through every time she was taken from the cage really frightened her. The owner meant well, but didn't know how to deal with Jovie properly. I didn't know the cage was bad or about the toweling before I actually met Jovie and her previous owner... But when I found out, I knew I needed to take her home with me. I had every intention of fostering her until I found her a good, well-informed, permanent home.

I am going to avoid craigslist from now on. I can't save them all and I know that, and it breaks my heart. She *may* still be a foster, I will talk with my husband tomorrow. I am just afraid that I won't have time enough for everyone... (i.e. right now I am feeding my infant human baby, who wakes up every few hours to eat...yay me...and pretty much whenever I am on here, I am either feeding the baby or handling one bird or the next. I have become an excellent multitasker, I will give myself that much credit, bahahaha!)

Ironically enough, I have suggested he handle Cloud more in an effort to sneakily get Chuck to bond with him. Heehee! :swaying: Cloud prefers me right now, but hey you never know. I am just hoping one of the birds takes to him, but um... I seem to have the same problem as you, Entranced.

Fostering is so difficult right? I've had to stop as well because I get so attached. I still wish I had a few of them back especially the Timneh and Linus the Caique. But there is a limit to how many I can take care of and still remain sane and take proper care of them. On the other hand, it is a good feeling to know you've put them in a good home. But, yeah, I have to stay off of CL from now on!

We have to get these men in our lives to help out with the tedious daily care of our birds or the birds will never bond with them! They can't have the bond without the work!

Sometimes it can be amazingly difficult for people to get used to birds. "It's like the elephant jumping up on a table when he sees a mouse" kinda thing. All they see is beak and attitude. often it just takes time if the person is perceptive enough.
