Almond as a treat or is it

I have given Buddy almonds as treats before but today was the first time I gave him one in a shell.

He started working at it right away. It didn't take him long to get inside but to my surprise as soon as he got the almond he dropped it and kept busy with the shell. I thought he dropped by accident so gave him another one, same thing. Seems the treat for him is ripping through the shell rather than the almond

Doesn't really surprise me. Its probably a challenge to open the shell and its more fun to chew on that.

I've never given Lucy and Jessie almonds in the shell ... but they love raw almonds. It is their favorite treat at the moment.
