No, it's not a parrot, but...
You TELL me the Rickeybird and this guy aren't related! See the picture below? They're twins!
This guy is a mascot at a local bar... he's quite well-cared-for, apparently.

Iguanas are good pets. They can become like a combination of dogs and cats. They are curious and house broken on their own but will still climb your curtains.

The first time my daughter moved out she left a large iguana. Just like with my parrots, I knew nothing about them and did not have a computer to learn with. She had kept him in a bedroom with the door shut. To me that was like a cage that he could not look out. (Like sitting in a waiting room with no windows and all old magazines) It had to be boring. He was a dark color which did not look pretty but I opened the door so he could hear me and see me walk by. I was sitting on the floor sorting something when I realized he was beside me. He took me off guard but had only come to thank me for letting him out. For a long time when he walked through the house he would have a parade of other critters following him. He turned bright green.

Momma had to go in for surgery and I would be away for 3 days. Aunt Betty took in my furries while I was gone but I talk a neighbor into taking him. (The same neighbor I got Rambo and friends from.) He was on an adventure to a house other than the one he was trapped in for many years. He bit every banana he found and walked through the pumpkin pies she was cooling. Even worse was that he would climb to the top of Rambo's cage to look out the window. The house hold was stressed out for 3 days. When I picked him up he was gold. She said he was gold the whole time.

Dark meant depressed and sad. Green meant he was happy. Gold meant he was having the excitement of his life. I knew I had to rehome him so he could be gold all the time. I gave him to a waitress I knew who had 3 generations living in her house. She set hichm up with lamp and all in the living room but he decided her pantry with a window was more like the laundry room he had claimed in my house. She had to move his stuff to there. The kids never remembered to close the door when they went out to play so the he went out to play too. He also came in at night when the kids did. One time the lady got a phone call from a neighbor. He was sunning himself laying on the banister of his porch. He climbed trees and picked his own veggies from her garden. I did a good rehome.

I know he was not a parrot and I took up a lot of your time to read this but when I memory comes back I just have to share it.

Rickybird looks ornery in that picture. He must be wonderful to be with.

Thank you. I loved reading all that. Shared it with a friend back in NW who has a 3-4 footer. She chimed in about that green! That's amazing. She asked me to thank you for the story and info!

The Rickeybird is definitely fun to live with. As long as he gets anything he wants, nobody gets hurt.

Thanks again for the iguana tale!
