So you're visiting up north where the sun is always shining. Here in Melbourne we get all four seasons in the one day! I'm sure you will have a great time :)

I think I'd have a hard time breeding, it would be difficult to let the babies go!

Scooter is a year and nine months and he's still a pretty active bird. In fact, sometimes I wish he'd slow down! He loves to play and explore when he is out and about.

I was really good with this clutch in that I tried not to focus on developing a bond with any of them. I of them as soon as he started flying would do a runner every time I opened the cage and then fly to me. The fella wouldn't leave me alone . . so it just happened. He left us on Sunday and i was so very sad.

I think if you only focused on breeding then it would be OK but its hard when you teach them trick etc before they leave you. So you're kind of forced to spend time with them.

Having said that, I couldn't be happier with the people that picked up the first 3 birds

Man i feel for ya, it's hard handfeeding babies and then turning them over to some one. Today we gave our vet a baby Orange Wing Amazon to keep at the office, the bad part was that it was just starting to say "Hi Mom" this morning, my wife boo hooed all day, and of course we had to stop by about 6 times to make sure every thing was OK. I guess the good part is that we have to drive right by there every time we go to town. Good luck with the not bonding with them part.

I don't know if I could do what you guys do because I don't think I could let them go, but as an owner I am very appreciative that breeders that care exist, or I would not have Merlin. I just think it is far better to get birds direct from breeders than from pet stores.

Toooooo cute, those baby eyes!
Considered breeding in the future as there's not many bluethroats around but I could never handle giving away puppies when we used to breed those- I don't think Id be able to handle it any better with birds...
