man and cockatoo

Postby TheNzJessie » Sat Dec 11, 2010 9:49 pm

i would like to share this because i think its a beautiful relationship these two had
all through my childhood (and to this day) i go to browns bay beach. i remember every day a older man (in his 60s) walked the beach everyday with a sulfer crested cockatoo. they went everywhere together i when ever you saw him his cockatoo was with him, they were inseparable. i remember asking him when i was 7 what the birds name was and when did he get him. he said his birds name was bobby and he got him for his 9th birthday!!!!!! that means the bird was at least 51. they were so cute and the bird adorded him he adorded the bird. but recently bobby passed away and the guy has been walking the beach by himself. i asked him and he said he was 82 so bobby was 73

for 73 years bobby and this man (never knew his name) walked browns baby beach everyday.]

i just think it was absolutely beautiful how man and bird had such a strong bond. but it was heart breaking seeing him walk the beach by him self. he looked lost but he said hes not getting another that bobby was the only bird he had ever had and will ever have.

I once walked the beach with an amazon, but it was of the featherless two legged variety (:

Thanks for this story!
