Disney talking tales

Postby Munchy » Sat Dec 25, 2010 6:16 pm

Merry Christmas to all you parrot lovers from around the world!
Christmas eve Disney entertained my husband and I with his newly expanded vocabulary. He kept saying Pretty Bird, Good Boy, What?, and Trick or Treat.... along with his come here whistle. We were laughing the night away as he chattered merrily. Today he said my sons name just after I did, Steven. Once I told him "Don't do that" and he repeated right after me "Don't do That" He mimics right away certain words.
Here is a parrot tale to put this in the parrot tales section. One night my husband was leaning behind the bed I said to him, "What are you doing?" he said "closing the window" I said "be quiet then, you are going to disturb Disney" Just then my husband tripped, making a little bit of noise, and Disney complained in a very annoyed voice "argh argh argh" We both just had to laugh.
When I tell Disney he is a pretty bird he starts to sing.

Wow your photos are amazing! so clear and crisp, what a beautiful birdy. Can I ask if you get these photos professionally done or if you are the professional yourself? :) :) :)

I take the pictures of Disney myself, Here is the link to my blog. I have many pictures of Disney there.
He is now my favorite subject. He doesn't mind the lights at all! which is great. He actually has fun when I take his picture and he lets me know when he is done.

I loved the Half Moon I had growing up but feel so much guilt for the way she/he lived now that I know better. But I was just a kid and did what I thought was right, she/he never seemed unhappy and never plucked or anything like that, but I look back and wish he/she had a better life. Disney will lack for nothing. I love this bird so much.

Having a look through your blog right now, you're really talented! Wish you were on this side of the world to take some photos of Lorenzo for me lol. haha "worst photographer ever"...never! They're excellent, esspecially the ones of disney. Some of the clearest parrot photographs ive seen. can I ask you what kind of a camera you use for these amazing shots? Mine was stolen last year and i havent gotten around to finding a new one, im really fussy. just been borrowing my friends in the meantime but they're all just basic cameras which cant get the quality right, even if i photoshop the pictures all day

I know what you mean about the birds we had as kids that we didnt pay much attention to! I feel some guilt as well to a pair of cockatiels I had. They loved me so much and i just wasnt really into birds or knew anything about them so couldnt give them the attention they wanted from me. Again like the conure you had, they were still happy and were together but I wish I was more interested and spoilt them a bit more or gave them more time. Now im crazy about parrots and want to know everything, also spoiling my little conure more then anything:)

I use a Nikon, but only because when I was first getting into photography it was the most preferred. Since then Cannon has come along way. Cannon has invested more into digital technology and has long ago surpassed Nikon as the favorite camera among professionals. Most of my camera equipment is breaking and getting old. I am thinking it is about time for me to switch over myself. But I also want to start shooting in medium format. It suits my style since I am no longer a photojournalist. The digital cameras I'd like are far out of my price range. But that's o.k. I just do the best I can with what I have. I do have a film medium format camera and am thinking that in January I might just start photographing only with that camera and with black and white film.
Camera's are so advanced now a days that anyone can take a good picture. If you want a new camera just go and play with a few of them in your local store and talk to the people there and buy what suits what you are wanting to do. Although beware, sometimes they try to sell cameras that most people really don't need. My husbands call phone takes awesome pictures.

Too bad life is linear. If it wasn't I could take what I know now, go back and do it different. At my age I do feel that I know enough to give all my pets the best home possible. And now if I don't know something there is the internet. lol

Awesome thanks for the advice:) The camera I had before which was stolen was a cannon and must say that it worked great. Will probably try go for something similar. Its true that in the shops they try to get rid of the dodgy ones or the least popular and i usually get sucked into it so I better be careful.
Black and white photography is my favorite! I have a friend in switzerland which has a real eye for it and its always facinating for me to look through.
I wish you the best luck with your photography career :dancing2:
