Depending on the bird, the beak color may not be a sexual indicator. What kind of bird are you trying to sex?

I think you mean sex, not gender. It's picky, but "gender" actually refers to human behavioral and other characteristics associated with a sex and is not applicable to non-human animals.

Some species of parrot are sexually dimorphic, meaning that males and females look different when mature. For most, though, you need to have the bird DNA-sexed (or observe it laying an egg) to be sure which sex you have.

If you are trying to determine the gender of a conure :gcc: what I was told was to look at their head shapes and if it is square or boxey then it is supposed to be a boy, and if it is round it is said to be a girl.
If I am wrong somebody correct me please.
That is how I was told to determine the gender of a conure :gcc: and that is what I have been doing.
The only thing I know about budgie sexes is that if it is brown/pink it is a girl and if it's blue the a boy. But I don't really know for sure.
