Close Encounters of the Bird Kind

Postby entrancedbymyGCC » Tue Feb 22, 2011 5:58 pm

I have this terrible job where I have to go to Hawaii twice a year for meetings. I know, awful, huh? This time my husband came along with me. He made a :cockatoo: friend at the hotel:

I'm afraid he set a bad example for the other hotel guests, though! He had met "Butterscotch" the previous day, and the 'too clearly remembered him and immediately demanded head scratches. What a sponge! He'd have been in my suitcase if I could have figured out how to get through security that way! The other lobby bird, a Scarlet Macaw, was all the way up at the top of the hoop over the perch avoiding contact at all costs.

Everytime I get bubbly about a too, mytoos.com pops into my head. Then I'm not so bubbly anymore.

I think that site could well be referring to most large parrots, though. The only really unique thing is the propensity to feather-plucking. I'm not saying they aren't more demanding than average, but my husband did have one, although unfortunately he died from PBFD before he probably reached full maturity, so perhaps that's short of the full picture, and was able to keep the bird happy despite being employed.

But, yeah, probably not going to happen...
