Cocoa gets out of house.

Postby Erithacus » Wed Feb 23, 2011 7:26 pm

I was planning to take Cocoa out with me yesterday. As I was loading some stuffs into my car, Cocoa found her way out of the house. She couldn't wait for me. She squeezed thru between the metal sliding door and the glass sliding door. I took a few shots before asking her to step up and took her back into the house. This is the 4th time she got out of house.

She is out again today. My wife took the laundry out to dry in the sun. She flew to the curtain and made it out within seconds. I couldn't open the iron grille door because she was sitting on the 2nd pane nearest to the 1st pane (the sliding pane). I had to wait for her to climb further away like she used to do but she flew to the clothes line instead. The clothes line is one of her favorite play gyms.
I told my wife not to panicked. I quickly walked to her and said "kiss kiss" (she loves kissing) to prevent her from taking any unexpected actions. She stepped up and I quickly took her in.
I closed the glass door the moment we went in and she made another attempt again.

You may not welcome this advice, but I think if it were I, I'd be very careful not to let her go out on her own again. It sounds as if she is beginning to consider it part of her normal routine. It would scare the life out of me, even if my birds were as well trained as Cocoa. YMMV.
