oh! How utterly precious! I wonder what the outcome of this rescue and rehabilitation was? They are very obviously bonded, so I wonder about whether release into the wild would be successful, or desired, by either the bird or the lovely young man with the gentle soul.....

Hummng birds bond with the humans who put out the feeders. My mother put up a feeder then had to put up four more. They would come to the window to tell her which feeder was empty. When she would get home - before she could get out of the car - they would go to her to tell her is one of the feeders was empty. When she walked outside the would fly all around her. When I went home to visit - I was sitting on the front porch when a dart came right at me. It didn't hit. When I opened my eyes there was a humming bird hovering about an inch away from them.
Since Humming Birds fly south individually and not in flocks - that one may want to winter inside.
I wintered a baby squirrell who was born too late in the season. In the spring I put him out every morning. When I got home from work he would be on my garage door waiting for me. As I let him in he would run right to the cage I made him and eat and drink then jump into the taboggon I had hanging on the side for him to sleep in. It was May when he brought a friend back with him. The friend didn't want to come in so he stayed out too. The next morning I found him and his friend eating from the bird feeder on my balcany. They were both covered in pine tar but he never came back in when he found his friend.
A baby Starling fell out of a nest in our big red tips. Using the knowledge they gave me at the zoo - I was able to find enough in the house to feed it. When it started to fly I noticed a flock of them in the back yard so I opened the window and put him out. He begged for food and they took turns feeding him but when the flock flew away he came back in. They only came for a few days then left.
I threw bread on the ground for him to go after. He didn't go until he saw my pet chicken eating it. He flew down and she called him over like an old hen. That went on for a few days but when she came in he did too. He stayed with her until he was full grown. Bird and squirrel still come for feedings.

Did you catch the baby's long skinny tounge licking syrup out of the dropper?
