Yea mine likes to be on my shoulder and cuddle(scratch my veins out). I guess it's to feel secure for baby's lol.

Parrotlover - aren't you glad you have a little tiel? When I got Myrtle she had had no care at any time in her short one year life. Her nails were like talens and her secure place was my shoulder. I didn't want to take her to the vet to get them trimmed until she trusted me. I have scars to show my love of her.

I'm still very new to being a parrot owner so I have yet to experince much of the discussed shinanigans in this thread. That being said Sky has developed this annoying habbit of asking for a treat (Nut/Buiscuit e.c.t.) and then comence with not eating it but just demolishing it and then looking at me as if to say "I did NOT want that".

Yea - so what's the problem. LOL

Amazons are ornery little kids. Of course they got through different ages like kids.

:amazon: Rambo is 20 years old and acts like a 6 year old big boy.

:amazon2: Myrtle is 1 and acts like a 2year old little girl coming into her "terrible twos".

You don't have problem. You just need a broom and dust pan.

LOL miss pirate lady. Part of bird’s interactive behaviour is playing “Bird-Fetch”. He’s wanting you to play with him. Your bird is throwing the things, wanting you to get them, give them back to him, so he can throw them again, to have you get them again, and again, and again. This is one of the ways they playfully interact, and another thing which results in your bird “bonding” to you.

I learned about this from my studies of parrot behavior. I thought it was very interesting. And I put it together with, some people throw things (bird foot toys) for their bird to chase. At first, I didn’t know why my bird started dropping his foot toys at times, as soon as I gave them to him. I would pick them up and give them to him again, and he would drop them again, looking at me. I thought he didn’t want the toy at that time. Then I read about “bird-fetch”, in a parrot book I have; it’s in the section on behavior and interaction for them. Ya know when you want your dog to fetch a ball or stick you throw, and bring it back to you, so you can throw it for him again, so he can run after it again, and again, bringing it back to you to throw again? …… For birds, it’s the same thing, only reversed. They’re wanting you to fetch.

When I learned this, I started doing this with my parrot, and he has so much fun, and he says, “WWWEEEE!!!” when he throws his toys off of the top of his play-top cage. I get the toy, I throw it up in the air, and I say, “WWWeeeee!!, Mama get it !" – a few times, and he follows it, up and down, and says, “wwweeee!!”. Then I throw it, and say, “Baby! Get it!”. As soon as I throw it across the top of the cage, he RUNS!, gets it, & throws it back at me, and says, “wweeee!!!” …. And this happens a few times in a row. Try it! You will see a very adorable, and fun-loving personality come out and develop in your bird; while doing this with him, you will begin to see such love and happiness in his eyes; and, he will be glad that you understand and have caught on, and he will respond. He is wanting you to interact with him.

Baby is my parrot's name.
