So JJ came home yesterday...

Postby Vicki5280 » Tue Apr 19, 2011 2:30 am

And after three weeks of driving to the store with Bucky, sitting on the dirty floor holding both birds so they would be familiar with each other, buying new perches, new toys, new everything to go in the big cage that we took out of the house two weeks ago in the hopes that when we brought it back "new" we could reintroduce both birds without drama, this is what we got...
(and I'm sorry the pictures are huge, I don't know how to make them smaller.)

Bucky: In his favorite perch, "WHAT?! Why is SHE here?"
JJ: In a very small little voice, "I'll stay out of your way sir!"
Image

Bucky thinks, "Maybe if I ignore it, it will go away."
JJ thinks, "I wonder if I can get away while he's ignoring me?"
Image

Bucky: "Shoot. Didn't work."
JJ: "Uh oh, too late!"
Image

Balanced nimbly on one foot, Bucky gives JJ "The Stink-Eye."
Image

"Can't we just be friends? I don't take up much space and I'm GREAT at preening!"
Image

"NO! I will PECK you and BREAK your TAIL FEATHERS!"
Image

Having run off the baby bird, Bucky contentedly grinds his beak and drifts off to sleep.

JJ on the other hand, heads down to eat more food. By Mom. Where it's safe.

Bottom line?

Drama.

They are soooo cute. Introducing birds can be hard but I'm sure they'll be best of friends soon.

You have beautiful birds! Are you housing them together or in separate cages?

Ultimately we want to house them together, but so far that idea isn't working out (as evidenced by the pictures above). We're holding out hope that they'll learn to get along!
