The genetics in breeding birds is absolutely fascinating to me. I've been looking into breeding Lovebirds, specifically the Masked Lovebirds. It's interesting how there are even some "bird people" who don't understand the basic genetics involved in breeding birds. I had one person - who was breeding Lovebirds - try to tell me that a Blue Masked Lovebird was different from a Blue Black Masked.

If I'm wrong, somebody correct me, but the masked lovebirds are all black masks and their color is defined by their body color - in this case blue. <shrug> Oh well, I'm not a breeder so what do I know?
This is one of the (many) things I really enjoy about this forum. There is such a tremendous amount of knowledge here, and it's very diverse knowledge. There isn't one person dictating that things should be done in a particular way, but several people who have obtained their knowledge in different ways all sharing what they know in an effort to help broaden the knowledge base for everyone else. It really is an amazing sense of community that I haven't found anywhere else.
Capt, I agree with Margaret - I LOVE the pictures, and I LOVE baby 'tiels. I can almost hear them begging ... believe it or not, I love listening to a baby tiel's beg (yes, I'm a little crazy!). And I can't WAIT to see some of those baby 'zon pictures you haven't promised yet... but I'm sure you will now!
Thanks for sharing.
