We just added a new member to the family. Our Alpha-FID is a GCC named "Enkidu". This is a picture of our Beta-FID, an UnCape/p.f.f. named "Orion". Both birds are about 14 months old, but the Uncape is still a juvenile. Both birds are males, Enkidu is 67 grams and Orion is a whopping 320 grams and still growing. Both are flighted; Enkidu is sure and swift, while Orion is still working on strength, skills and landings. The GCC is a typical pyhurra, not too loud except when he works at it, but consistently wanting attention and letting you know about it. The UnCape makes noise less often, usually isn't any louder than the GCC, but can be much louder, although this isn't very often. We've had Enkidu for 7 months; he's an affectionate, cuddly, playful, hyper, monkey. We've only had Orion for a couple of weeks, so he's still getting used to us and his new home. He is friendly, calm, clumbsy, somewhat playful, and a DESTROYER of wood and hard plastic. At first I was somewhat concerned about the size of his beak (if he behaved like a conure I wouldn't have any fingers, or ears left), but we purchased him from a wonderful Breeder from Tennessee so he was very well socialized and perfectly behaved. He never bites, he does beak very gently and only once gave me a warning growl and gently nipped when I tried feeding him mixed vegetables (either I was moving around too fast, or he truly hates vegetables?) It will take several months for him to bond and for his true personality to come out, but we are very pleased so far.
