If you are going to use a spray bottle - NEVER - use one which has had any kind of chemicals in it, and then washed out. Use a fresh new one, which never had anything it in, and is only for water for your bird. Get masking tape, and a marker. Write BIRD BATHS ONLY with the marker on a piece of masking tape. Stick the masking tape label you just made, onto your bird-bath-spray-bottle.
The spray bottle must be clean and fresh, and never used for anything like any kind of cleaning chemicals or anything - and should only be used for clean water to mist your bird. Or else you could kill your bird - NEVER NEVER CHEMICALS - Do not think that a washed bottle, previously used with chemicals, will be ok. The residue of the chemicals will kill your bird. Bird's systems are very, very sensative.
Brand new, fresh sprayer bottles are sold at walmart, and/or kroger, and dollar stores. I would also be sure and rinse the spray bottle before use for your bird. Rinse it in hot faucet tap water, the hottest it can get, for about a couple of minutes. This will be enough to steralize it enough, as well as get any kind of possible residue out of it from manufacturing and shipping and handling. Then leave it out, airing out, a bit, to cool down. Then put cool to lukish warm water in it, to spray your bird with.
NEVER let the water sit in the spray bottle. Always use clean fresh water to mist your bird. Standing water grows bacteria. When done misting, empty, turn upside down in dish drain, letting it air dry. Never put it away wet. Then you can close it up and put it away with your bird supplies.
