- How he gets so happy when I get home. As soon as I walk in the door from work, he says, "Hi ! Mama!" - stepping down off his perch, trying to get at me, then swinging back and forth upsidedown, hanging from one leg, with such joy in his eyes, and that turning head cuddle like a cat thing he does. Then I stick my finger in the cage and he gently nibbles on it and cuddles with it.
When I take a nap during the day at times, I've noticed he sees and watches me. At times when I wake up, he's staring at me, directly into my eyes (watching me sleep). Then as soon as he sees I've opened my eyes (he knows I've woke up), he says, "Mama!", doing that cuddle thing and swinging again, looking at me with such happiness in his eyes. There are times when I've opened my eyes, and his eyes are closed and he's sleeping, so at times he takes a nap when I take a nap. The owner at the parrot shop did say, "They're flock animals, they do what the flock do; they sleep when you sleep and eat when you eat.". Sometimes he even takes a nap when he's sitting right on me, if I happen to doze off. When I wake up, I see his eyes closed...... - One time I had him on the parrot tree stand by the bed, and I was lying on the bed and dozed off. I woke up to find him sitting on my shoulder taking a nap. He'd jumped down from the tree stand onto the bed LOL.
The way he gets all happy trying to get at me when I walk into the room, trying to play and interact with me, trying to cuddle, and also stretching his leg up and out into the air, off of the perch, wanting me to get him ("step-up"). He even says the command "Step-up, step-up" when he does that at times.
Wimpering, screaming, and calling, "MAMA!" alot of times when I walk out of the room.
It's the "interaction". He's so sweet and happy. And he's always so happy to see me. I find myself ALOT of times thinking about him, as well as (of course), making him my first consideration making sure he's ok, etc. I look forward to sharing his joy and love. He's definately a big part of me. Does anyone who has a bird bonded to them in similar fashion, have similar feelings?
