Does Anyone Actually Miss Their Bird When They're Working?

Postby Maria » Mon Sep 19, 2011 10:58 am

I actually have grown to miss my parrot during the day at times while I'm working during the day, and at times, can't wait to get home to it! Does anyone else feel this way? I guess it's because of the bond that has grown:

How he gets so happy when I get home. As soon as I walk in the door from work, he says, "Hi ! Mama!" - stepping down off his perch, trying to get at me, then swinging back and forth upsidedown, hanging from one leg, with such joy in his eyes, and that turning head cuddle like a cat thing he does. Then I stick my finger in the cage and he gently nibbles on it and cuddles with it.

When I take a nap during the day at times, I've noticed he sees and watches me. At times when I wake up, he's staring at me, directly into my eyes (watching me sleep). Then as soon as he sees I've opened my eyes (he knows I've woke up), he says, "Mama!", doing that cuddle thing and swinging again, looking at me with such happiness in his eyes. There are times when I've opened my eyes, and his eyes are closed and he's sleeping, so at times he takes a nap when I take a nap. The owner at the parrot shop did say, "They're flock animals, they do what the flock do; they sleep when you sleep and eat when you eat.". Sometimes he even takes a nap when he's sitting right on me, if I happen to doze off. When I wake up, I see his eyes closed...... - One time I had him on the parrot tree stand by the bed, and I was lying on the bed and dozed off. I woke up to find him sitting on my shoulder taking a nap. He'd jumped down from the tree stand onto the bed LOL.

The way he gets all happy trying to get at me when I walk into the room, trying to play and interact with me, trying to cuddle, and also stretching his leg up and out into the air, off of the perch, wanting me to get him ("step-up"). He even says the command "Step-up, step-up" when he does that at times.

Wimpering, screaming, and calling, "MAMA!" alot of times when I walk out of the room.

It's the "interaction". He's so sweet and happy. And he's always so happy to see me. I find myself ALOT of times thinking about him, as well as (of course), making him my first consideration making sure he's ok, etc. I look forward to sharing his joy and love. He's definately a big part of me. Does anyone who has a bird bonded to them in similar fashion, have similar feelings?

:amazon: Rambo :amazon2: Myrtle

YES!!!

Rambo runs with the dogs to meet me at the door or calls me from wherever he is if he can't get to me fast enough. (Rambo is a pedestrian) Myrtle has a little monkey in her. She almost makes a fool of herself acting up to get me to her. She does not like to leave her home area. They say when I am gone for a few days she flies around the house and looks for me.

I am addicted to them.

Rambo can climb but not fly. He did not have flight feathers when I got him and I don't remember him having them when he was with my friends. I don't know if they were surgically removed or if he had an awful trim.

He has a tall cage on legs and a patio to play on but climbs down to walk the house and snoop. He goes from room to room talking to people. If he can't find someone he calls them until they answer.

My daughter has been gone a few days and he has been moody. When he heard her truck come in the drive way he was down and running. I had to move a foot so he could go through the room faster. Rambo is pigeon toed. Can you imagine what that looks like in a run.

I do miss my boys, but they really interact with thier mama. They know I am just the food source/teacher at school. When my wife walks in the room the green cheek will say "I love you", but not to me. the Sun makes many vocalizations, but none you can make words out of, but most of it is towards my wife. I do miss them, but they miss her more. I have seen the green cheek pace back and forth in front of the rest room waiting for my wife to come out. It really melts her heart.

I go to school. But I thing about my budgie alot. He is the sweetest(but not so tame) budgie I have ever had. Well, he's the only budgie I ever had.

He goes crazy when I get home so he can poke me around. And maybe flap my eyeballs out. Haha.
Anyways, yes I do miss him when I'm at school.

Four of the house dogs, one of my cats and Rambo do the same thing. Now try to picture what that looks like when I come out of the bathroom.
