Odd Things Your Parrot Says

Postby Naurthon » Mon Oct 31, 2011 2:12 pm

Every once in a while, Dante comes up with a new phrase on his own, one he hasn't been taught.

Sometimes they appear to have a meaning, like when he announced, after his second visit to the vet in a week, that "Daddy's a poop." Sometimes they seem a lot more random, but still amusing.

This morning, when my partner and I were making lunch, Dante called out, "Hey boys! What's the matter with Daddy?" That's definitely not something I've ever taught him to say.

I'm sure there are plenty of other stories about parrots making stuff up on their own. Got any to share?

The only odd thing my GCC does is yell "Nikki". Nikki was a beagle I had for 14 years and she is now gone, but the conure still hollers her name. Its kinda cute and sad at the same time. I never taught him to say it, so he must have just picked it up

Those are words that he a LEARNED. He understand them and has rearanged them to make sentences. Rambo does it all the time. He doesn't know all the words he needs but really understands the words he can say. Right now he is practicing with verbs. Sometimes I have to think about it a little to know what he is asking but I eventually get it.

(it was just randomly repeating stuff, and the orders just HAPPENED to b like that.)
u could imagine the shock on granny's face....

He wanted to start a conversation but just didn't know what else to say at that point.

You must have good hearing to catch all the words your budgie said.

my budgie is L-O-U-D! and i'v grown accustomed to his chatter, so i know pretty well what he's saying.
besides, he's clear enough so that other people can understand him too.
his best, clearest phrase is , "i'm a cuttie pie!"
