Her professional name, Luna, is the name I tell a lot of people when they ask and it's the name that I've used on the forums while I've been posting.

There's a funny story behind her *actual* name. While I was talking to breeders, I narrowed down my choice to two. One had a bird named Tango, and the other had an unnamed bird. I wanted to be able to talk about my decision with people while I was trying to figure things out, so I decided to come up with a random name for the second bird as a placeholder. I have a strange sense of humor, and decided to call her Scrubby Bubbles; fully intending on giving her a real name if I bought her.

Well, Scrubby Bubbles ended up being the bird I chose. Unfortunately, by the time I decided Luna was a good name, I had used Scrubby Bubbles so much that she started to say it on occasion. Up until now, I thought she was trying to say "Night, night" to tell me it's time for her to go to bed... but it's pretty clear now that she's actually saying "Scrubby."

Oh well :)

Absolutely Adorable ! [I like Scrubby]

My first bird, Baby, a :monk: , got long discussions with my son and his girlfriend, lists made, names crossed out, until finally we (I) decided on Baby, which frequently gets lengthened to Babygirl. With my :meyers: , Fred, on the way home in the car, I said, 'We're going home now, Fred', for no apparent reason, and thus he became Fred. That must be his name!

Having had birds since I was a kid, we started out with two canaries named Oil & Vinegar. Next came the female cockatiel, Smokey. I decided Smokey needed a friend, so we found someone who needed a home for his 12 year old male cockatiel...surprisingly enough, the tiel's name was Hokey. So we had Hokey and Smokey. We lost Smokey to what I now think was egg-binding (I was pretty young and I don't remember all the details). Hokey came with me to college, where he passed away at around 22 years old.

My next bird was a GCC named Swaps. I named him after the racehorse. Then I adopted Scarlett, who came with that name and I never changed it.

After the GCC came the tiels. I purchased a whiteface cinnamon pearl pied tiel and named her Miu, which means "beautiful feathers" in japanese. Then came her pal, Sumo, who was the BIGGEST cinnamon pearl tiel I'd ever seen. He was HUGE!

After the tiels came Sachi, my TAG. Sachi means "fortune" in japanese (it has a few other meanings as well) - I named her that because that's what she cost me!!

Now we have Banner, the yellow-crowned amazon. We named him Banner after the Incredible Hulk. :) Not 100% sure he's a boy, but fairly certain. We'll find out most likely on Monday!

I gave my Black-capped conure a long set of names, though the main name, Percival sort of came before the bird. I call him Percy most of the time, and it seems like such an energetic name. However his full name is Percival Pigeon Huxleyi Ford.

Percival - I really like the name.
Pigeon - I was going to call him Pigeon Widget firstly as I thought this combo was ABSOLUTELY adorable.
Huxleyi - This is the species name of the algae that I am working on for an undergrad thesis. It is a big part of my life, and so is Percy.
Ford - It's my last name.

I'm not sure how common it is to give pets more than one name, but I thought it was nice. Percival P. H. Ford. Sort of sounds like he is an author. Hah.

Madison the budgie was a little loonatic and I liked the name madison anyway.
Jack a cockatiel was named after a famous persons son.....!!
Magic another 'tiel was already named
Rosie a rosella was already named
Tico ('tiel) was named after a dog I used to look after
George (peach fronted conure) just seemed to suit him somehow
Harlie ('tiel) used to be Harley until ''he'' laid us 6 eggs
Ollie (green cheek conure) we struggled to name as nothing I liked suited him, my boyfriend chose in the end.

I know they aren't parrots but we never bothered naming all the finches, canaries and diamond doves, there were at least 15 and I couldn't tell them apart from each other apart from the odd 1 or 2.

When I was naming Yoshi, I had a whole list of possible names. It came down to either Kiwi or Yoshi. He is a light green colour just like that Mario Bros character. I finally decided Yoshi because of his looks and at the time, I wasn't sure what gender he was so I knew I could change his name to "Yasha" if we found out he was a girl.

I had a list of names when getting my second budgie too. When I first saw her in the pet store, I liked the name Buffy. I got home and let her out of the tiny box and into the cage. At this time, I called her "Yoshi's lady friend." I named her Cocoa. She is named Cocoa because she is very fluffy and loves cuddling. She reminds me of those cold winter days when you're drinking hot choclate by the fire. Cocoa suits her well.

When I adopted my Senegal and hand-feeding it in the pet store. They had a bird room and gave mini feeding sessions to adopters of the birds supervised. I was trying to think of a name for my Senegal, but it was difficult to do when I wasn't sure of the gender. Someone working at the store was pretty sure it was a male(and it's confirmed now). She suggested to keep it simple so the bird could learn it's name easily. After much thought I decided on the name Cody because I just liked the sound of it. It was also from watching the Rescuers Down Under that has a boy in it named Cody. There is no going back on that name because now he says it a lot. He loves his name, it be easy to find him if he ever got lost lol

The Cockatiel I had taken in from my relatives, already had been calling her Birdie. I'm not really a fan of her name and I'm considering just saying it like Bertie instead.

We just added Scratches :gray: to our family. The first time I saw her at about 6 weeks old she was in a small carrier box and she was scratching the bottom of the carrier with so much force!
