My :senegal: received his/her final name after a while. At first I told my boyfriend (as a joke), that I'd like to call it Stefan (in Polish version of the "Up" movie it was the name of Kevin - the prehistoric bird :)), but he wasn't really okay with it :D
Then I thought of Paput, but it didn't reallt stick. Then we came up with Koko (the sound that Polish chickens make :D) as we used to joke that he's a sweet little chicken. And finally we went for Kura (Polish for "chicken" :)) - he seems to like it, he reacts to the name. And it's sweet and funny in my oppinion :D

I went on a whole bunch of name websites when I was trying to come up with a name for the baby Senegal that I was getting. I came across the name Gherkin and I thought it was really cute (in case you didn't know, a Gherkin is a type of pickle. They look like really small bumpy dill pickles, and are nice and sweet). I have always loved Gherkin's, but I didn't know if it would suit a parrot. I had a couple different names in mind on the day that I was getting her, and I figured I would decide once I met her and saw her personality. As soon as I saw her, I knew that Gherkin was the perfect name. She was short and chubby, she was really green, and super cute. Plus she was very clumsy when I first got her. For some reason I think that Gherkin just fit!

After our canary died, my mum said I could pick our next bird. I chose a budgie at first, then changed my mind and I decided on a cockatiel. I chose the name Charlie as it sounded like a great bird name.

I then went to our local pet shop to look at the cockatiels to get an idea on how big they were, and I met a blue Quaker Parrot. In the end, I bought my quaker from a breeder. Instead of Charlie, I called him Carlos, which I think is a latin version of "Charles" :)

My partner named our cockatiel after the TV show Blackadder. Although we call him Eddie he is infact Lord Edmund Blackadder III.... The idea behind it being we eventually want to build a bit of a zoo when we move to a larger house. We only have room for a maximum of three birds at the moment. The intention over a period of years is to get another cockatiel which we would name George- Lieutenant George or alternative Lord Percy Percy. Also we are hoping to get a cockatoo in the future when we find somewhere bigger to accommodate an indoor-outdoor mini aviary for him personally- we have already decided on General Melchett

and finally there will be the budgie.... Baldrick

However... I'm really having my heart set on getting a GCC after we bird sat one recently.

Obviously none of these would be in the same cage apart from the tiel's so definitely our next house will be bought around the birds!

When I first purchased my pet Congo African Grey Parrot, Aziza, my sister came up with a bunch of names, including the name Aziza, which means "gorgeous" in Swahili. I decided to go along with the name Aziza, because it's such a beautiful fitting name.
