Good potty boy

Postby Munchy » Thu Dec 08, 2011 7:01 pm

I've been saying poop when Disney lets go and good boy, at first he looked at me like "you like that?"
today I knew he had to go so I moved him over the tissue I use for him to go potty on and said poop, he looked at me then went poop! I told him Good Boy! He probably thinks I am easily excited

That is excellent! How long did it take to get him to go on a tissue?

I usually have tissue with me when he is out with us. I just know when he is going to go, the little boy in him always makes a show of it  , so i put the tissue under him, then I can throw the tissue away. But after reading the posts about potty training, I started saying poop when he goes. I could tell he wanted to go but didn't, so I held him over the tissue and said poop, he looked at me then went. I think the next step is getting him to fly to a place he can go.
Even if that step never materializes, the tissue sometimes doesn't work out as we miss, or he is to fast, but now that he will go when I say "poop", it will be easier, and cleaner.

That is just great. I am going to have to try that with my guys. They are not too old yet, and seem to hold it until I let them out of the cage in the morning so I may be able to get some headway.

see if you can put this including his reactions on video. Too cute. Set up tripod with video camera on it, so that the bird will not be distracted by the camera. :-)

please post the link to the posts about potty training. This is very good. I know there are different ways you can train your bird to poop only in certain places, etc. But I would like to learn about as many of these methods as I can.

Hi Maria, We don't have a video camera to record this but my husband does have an i phone and we have tried to video tape him, Disney seems to know this and does like the Looney Tunes Frog and sits there quietly with a stunned look on his face. I will let me husband know you would like to see this and maybe if we are lucky we'll get something we can post.
