I'm sorry Jacko, am I not cleaning fast enough?

Postby Grey_Moon » Sat Mar 03, 2012 11:30 pm

So today was major clean up birdie area day and, life with my grey-girl tends to go a little something like this;

*dutifully scrubbing cage crate and tray on the floor while her Highness watches from on top of the cage, adding to my slave chores by shredding an egg carton*

"You know, Jacko, I don't suppose *you* could learn to clean your house? I spend so many hours down here on my knees scrubbing bird poop...gods this is a labour of love huh? You're darn lucky I love you :roll: "

*gets clunked in the head with chewed up egg carton*

"Did you..." *looks up to see Jacko peering down at me, beak still agape from the throw*

"...." *Jacko laughs and walks away*

*sighs* "The things we do for love.... :lol: "

Ha my green cheek male throws food on the ground when I'm cleaning up the food he previously dropped. He does it on purpose jusst because he can, but I still love him and he loves me. :gcc: :gcc:

I know what you're saying. My friends (who don't own any birds...nor do they want to) just don't understand why I would want to have a parrot...most of them are HUGE neat freaks and can't stand the idea of the multiple messes. But they're worth it. My dog Piper is a huge help and vacuums the floor of any yummies Jojo drops :lol:

Haha... I know this is an old post but mine is the same way... especially when he's eating something then flies over to me, lands on my shoulder just long enough to wipe his beak off on my shirt and fly back to his food dish to resume eating until his beak gets messy again so here he comes back to me just to wipe off on my shirt and fly off again... :lol:
And yes, he loves to sling food around right after I clean up after him as well, and to add even more insult, he's learned to laugh as he flies off sometimes... lucky for him he's very well loved over here..

this is funny, and definitely true of my birds! :lol: the old Ringo (before spookout) and Toby would just sit around waiting for me to take out the broom and dustpan as I dutifully went under their various play areas sweeping up their feathers and seed husks and whatnot. at that very moment they would start flying around the area defeating what i was doing, raising everything into the air. i would have to wait till they settled down elsewhere in the house or room, and then SNEAK up to the task I had left unfinished by that play area. but they would spot me from afar and fly over just then to be all affectionate and curious, flapping and raising seed husks and feathers, trying to get into the dustpan, you name it. I then resolved to never try cleaning their play areas when they were out of their cages.

seems like most parrots love to make a mess while we are watching --- with the exception I think, of Truman and Kili! i recall Michael writing in one of his posts or blogs that both birds VERY NEATLY finish EVERY one of their pellets munching tidily with their heads over their food bowls and lick their bowls clean!! mine fling and spill their pellets and everything else everywhere. i have to put a towel under their food dishes so that even when they are done flinging all their pellets out of their dishes, the pellets are still there for them, scattered over the towel!! :D
