Rokisha wrote:Yeah she only did it twice so i'm guessing it was just play. She actually spoke today which suprised me lol. i was petting her saying cutey bird and she did a clicking noise and said cutey bird right back. Suprised the heck out of me lol. Tried to get her to say it again in front of hubby but all she did was make the clicking noise.

Its's so cute when they mimic you/your word but at the same time kinda creepy since the parrot tries to mimic your tone as well. haha

Thank you chris. :D She's really spunky and outgoing. She loves being petted by both kids and hubby as well as myself and she has recently taken to hopping off her cage and onto one of us or on the ground to explore when were up. She had playfully nipped at my hubbies ear while on his shoulder just after i took that pic. (edit) Hubby got her to start doing the sexy whistle too now lol.

Rokish - my birds tell me "no" when I tell them something they don't want to do. Rambo has always asserted himself. Myrtle takes it a little farther and back talks like a little kid. She is lucky it is still bby talk when she back talks so I don't really know what she is saying.

I also do "no" "cut it out" "behave" "knock it off".

I haven't had to deal with any backtalking as of yet but i have seen videos of birds that have backtalked. I know its not behavior to be encouraged but i couldn't help but think those sassy parrots were adorable and funny. There was one video i seen with a cockatoo backtalking somebodies mother and another with amazons i think that were in a box for some reason. The male kept saying something about not wanting them to hurt the females eggs and being the provider and the owner responded by trying to assure him they were not going to hurt the female and that she didn't even have eggs lol.
