Finally Introducing My Girl (pics and short story)

Postby ChewToy » Tue Apr 17, 2012 6:41 pm

This is my beautiful female, reccessive pied budgerigar Sky
Image
I named her sky because of the white and blue and black they reminds me of weather changes in the sky.
I bought her from a breeder at about 6 or 7 weeks old, and she is now 3 and a half months aprox.
here she is smooching my model cockatiel

meeting her relection

first time outside in her cage, I just took the bottom tray off and here she is investigating.

and this was one of her first times being out of the cage, after stepping up onto my finger.

hope you enjoyed my little presentation. currently sky is happily sitting on my finger and should and enthusiastically targeting. of course there is a little more about that on my other post in taming and training.

She is beyond adorable! I love budgies and I'm thinking of getting one myself. I hope you have a wonderful time with your new baby, I'm sure Sky's life will be full of love. :-)

She's adorable! To Paper lantern, I would suggest against getting a lone budgie if there is a chance he might bond to another bird in the house. I say this because as much as I love Spice, her life sucks. She is obsessed with my Cockatiel who doesn't like her at all, and she has no interest in me. She has no one to cuddle with, no one to preen or be preened by, ever. It breaks my heart to see Spice like that, and it is planned that she go to a friend of mine with 3 other budgies. Budgies really blossom with others of their kind.

Awww, Glass onion, I don't know if I'm just overly emotional tonight but that story made me so sad. I think you are doing a great thing by giving her to someone who will be able to offer her the company of other budgies. It shows that you are not a selfish person :-)

At least you know hat shes better off with aother bird and you are willing to take her somewhere where she will be happier. You know what they say, when you loe something set it free (but not literally, thats another matter:lol: )

I have rehomed a few critters in my day but only to someone who can do better and give more than I can.

GlassOnion - I know you miss her but you did a good thing. Have you seen her mixed in the flock yet? I am sure she is very happy. They are little flockers.

Once, my fiance's grandma brought her budgie over, and it was like love at first sight for the both of them. There is no way I could forget how happy they were.
