2 Questions for everyone!

Postby terri » Sun Apr 29, 2012 9:43 am

Hi everyone I enjoy hearing about all your different species and what their like. I think it would be neat to know [who in your flock] is the biggest handful and who talks or communicates the best. In my house my Hawkhead charlotte is the most demanding and what words she does say are very clear. But Louie my yellow streaked Lory speaks 2 0r3 words together. Its not always who you think its going to be after everything I read on parrots! Tell me about your birds species and gender. :D

I guess my current two are the biggest handful in different ways. Ollie my green cheek is the biggest because he is happiest when he is the center of attention. On the other hand Harlie my cockatiel is as good as gold really but we are still working on taming her, she was a rescue and is taking forever to learn to trust, in that respect, she too is highly demanding as she panics over the slightest little thing thats different and we frequently have to get up in the night to calm her down even with a night light on.

Neither bird talks, well Ollie says the odd 'hello' and 'boogie' occasionally he seems to be muttering things under his breath but I can never make out what he is actually saying. Harlie has started to try to imitate the phone when it rings, very very badly at the moment but it's so cute. Harlie is female, she suprised me with eggs after 5 years of thinking of her as male. Ollie was sexed and is male.

Graybeard the Pirate Parrot, CAG, is pure delight. He's bonded to my wife, and I'm competitor, so he talks in exactly my voice. He's like a voice recorder: I hear my half of phone conversations, and lots of my other talking, repeated randomly. I've taught him a few things:

"Hey, Good Lookin',
Whatcha' got cookin'?
How about cookin',
Somethin' up with me?"

He has trouble with a beginning S, so sometimes it ends with, "How about cookin',, me?"

The rose breast quickly earned the name, Chewbaca, because she CHEWS everything. Yesterday we lost the buttons off another portable phone that was left in reach. She doesn't talk, so she doesn't come off as very smart - more the clown. We've threatened to take her back many times, but my wife has this silly emotion of loyalty. Mebbe that's why we been married so long..

Thats neat! Your grey seems to say alot.My grey is my guys bird [prefers him] .Its funny I feel like such a moron I thought when people said CAG it meant caique [I know how do get cag out of caique LOL]My grey can say things in the right context .But always when its hectic .Like were running late for breakfast and Im yelling to my kids toast ,cerel or poptarts Max yells poptart :) Or If someone swears He says Bad Word {Dont worry were careful what we say we dont need swearing birds]'Yea!
you have a RB2 also .I thought they would talk more [I hear the males do ] Jennifer is a very quiet bird .She can spit out hello [which sounds like me] if shes very excited.Shes the only one of my birds who you can toss a ball to and she will return it. Shes the only one I can have out on me and not eat my laptop .Shes very easygoing.

last year after i lost my bluefront :amazon: my boyfriend bought me rocky yellownaped:amazon: he was very aggressive which wouldn't have been a problem working with if i didn't have a 6 year old and do childcare for a boy who was at the time 3.i can't see a bird in a cage all day and can't risk a kid losing a finger, almost happened when i was making lunch and came upstairs just in time to see 3 year old standing on a chair reaching for rocky.rocky's happy in a new home i get updates on him and the rescue found mya :corella:

wow biggest handful? black capped conure female, Rio. very needy but bitey
best comunicator? senegal female Baby. whatcha doing , who's pretty? pretty Baby. wanna come out? peeka Baby, good Baby. she talks so much that now my quakers are copying her.
the quakers are just naughty , they talk alot and their favorite is to say gimme a kiss and then try to bite me through the bars of their cage. the male taught the female all his words and now we have trouble knowing who is who!
